This is an interactive session which combines an author’s story with real writing instruction. This has been very well received by teachers and homeschool parents.

Developing Plot with Use of the Plot Skeleton

  • Focus:  Interactive session utilizing the human skeleton to teach how to develop a plot
  • Audience: Grades 4-12

An interactive and captivating session for students on developing a plot. This will give students a step by step pattern for developing a plot.

Revision: Remove those pesky Weasel Words

  • Focus:  Advanced class for student writers
  • Audience: Grades 6-12

This is a very specific and detailed plan for step by step removing the unnecessary words from any document. The attendee will leave with confidence that they can revise their pieces and know how to write tighter.

Individuals will learn….

  • Practical instruction in writing tighter
  • Step by step instruction in identifying and removing unnecessary words.
  • Identifying your unique weasel words.
  • How to take your writing to a higher level, professionally. 

Senses: Make Your Scenes Pop

Topic Detail

  • Talk Time: 60 min.
  • Focus:  Advanced class for student writers
  • Audience: Grades 6-12

An interactive and FUN session on how to let your senses impact writing. Hands on and actual writing takes place. Students will visit five different stations with sensory prompts which they will give prompt memories which they can use in their writing. Discussion will also inform as to the benefit of adding sensory detail into writing.

  • Use senses to give you ideas for writing
  • Add sensory detail to bring your writing alive
  • Pull your reader in with more sensory detail

 

Youth – Inspirational Speaking Topics

 

 

You Can Be Anything God Wants You To Be!

  • Talk Time: 45 min.
  • Focus:  Inspirational lesson for children appropriate for Children’s Church, Sunday School, or Kids Clubs
  • Audience: Grades K-6

Through personal stories and Bible stories the children will begin to see that God is using their everyday activities and opportunities to make them into the person he wants them to be. Children will be inspired and encouraged that they can be whoever God wants them to be.

Individuals will learn….

 

  • That they can be anything God wants them to be.
  • Bible examples of God’s direction 
  • Different ways they can take advantage of the opportunities God gives them.

 

 

General Adult Audience Speaking Topics

 

 

Legacy:  Recording our personal stories so that we can pass the torch to the next generation!

Topic Detail

  • Talk Time: 45 min.
  • Focus: The attendee will learn the value of personal stories and sharing legacy in the life of a child and will come away with a desire to share their own, as well as ideas on ways to do this.
  • Audience: Adults of all ages.

Through personal story and lessons learned from her parents and grandparents the author demonstrates the power of story in the life of a child. Each of us has a legacy which we need to pass on to the next generation. If you don’t record, write, or pass on in some way your legacy, it will be lost.

Individuals will learn….

  • The importance of legacy, receiving and giving
  • Power of legacy in the life of a child
  • Simple ways to pass on your legacy
